This is a great recipe for summer picnics. It was finally warm enough this past weekend to have an outdoor cookout and so we trotted out this recipe that Goat Brother gave us a few years ago. Read more

Grilled Chicken Apple Kiwi Sliders
When the weather starts to get warm, Shorebird and Goat like to grill more often and to eat more fresh fruit! That’s how we stumbled across this recipe that we love for grilled chicken apple kiwi sliders. This isn’t our recipe at all, so follow that link to see how it’s done.
They are delicious and very healthy. And we were excited because it was our first opportunity to try out our new Presto Electric Indoor Grill. We had a mishap with our old George Foreman grill and after some research opted to try out this one. A great price and it has a pretty big cooking surface as you can see below. Did a great job cooking our chicken through and the asparagus came out great. One observation doesn’t tell us everything, but the early review is good!
World’s First Geep Bred in Ireland
Very important development from the New York Daily News:
An Irish farmer claims to have bred a “geep,” a cross between a goat and a sheep… Murphy said he had noticed a goat mating with his sheep but thought nothing would come of it.

iPhone Food Photography
Last year I remember scoffing at a story in the New York Times about people taking photos of food:
Even Valery Rizzo, who teaches a class in iPhone food photography, thinks the trend has crossed a line. Tired of seeing uncentered, flash-marred photos of indistinguishable glop, Ms. Rizzo taught a course last fall at 3rd Ward in Bushwick, Brooklyn, to try to raise the bar. Ms. Rizzo briefs her students not only on the apps available, like Instagram, Foodie SnapPak and Camera+, but also tries to teach them lessons on composition and lighting. “No. 1 rule is no flash,” she said. “A lot of food photos are hideous because of the flash.”
A class in iPhone food photography? Seriously? But now that we’ve been doing the blog I sort of wish I could take the course. Food is hard to photograph. Making food taste good is challenging enough but making food that’s photogenic too? A much greater challenge than I ever appreciated!
Kerala Baked Fish
Goat dad calls this recipe Kerala Baked Fish. Not sure where he got it but it’s delicious, easy and super healthy. (And this is one where the photo doesn’t do justice to how good it actually looks, inspiring this observation.) Kerala is a region of India, but the recipe seems Mediterranean to me. Read more
