Once upon a time a Maryland Shorebird met an Indiana Goat and they fell in love and started this blog…

If you’re new to Shorebird & Goat, you can expect to see our adventures and sometimes mishaps – both in the kitchen and around our new home.

We’re a thirtysomething couple who live in Washington, DC. We like to explore our neighborhood some nights and stay home cooking and decorating on others. The recipes on this site — mostly from our families — will largely be a celebration of our Midwest and Chesapeake roots.

We both have farming in our heritage, and so we love eating lots of vegetables and fruits. Shorebird brings a lot of seafood to the table, and goat brings lots of meat.
